The present Faculty of Humanities of the University of Szczecin has been founded under the Decision no. 78/2019 of the Rector of the University of Szczecin as of June 24, 2019. The Faculty is an organizational unit of the University providing education in four disciplines: linguistics, literary studies, philosophy and history.

In the 2019/2020 academic year the Faculty has been providing education for more than 2 500 students within full-time and part-time first and second cycle programs of study in 26 areas. Most of the fields of study offered by the present Faculty of Humanities include fields of study conducted previously at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Szczecin comprising: Global Communication (English studies), English Philology, German Philology, German Philology with a foreign language, Spanish Philology, Norwegian Philology, Romance Philology, Romance Philology with a selected foreign language, Russian Philology with an additional foreign language, Linguistics for business – Russian-Polish-German translation, Russian-Polish translation studies with an additional foreign language, Polish Philology, Journalism and social communication, Journalism and media management, Creative writing and Baltic cultural studies (a new field of study launched in October 2019). Further, nine fields of study of the former Faculty of Humanities (currently the Faculty of Social Studies) have been incorporated into the present Faculty: archeology, philosophy, history, cognitive science of communication, intercultural mediation, the media and civilization, cultural heritage manager (a new field of study launched in October 2019), international relations, war and military studies as well as one field of study of the Faculty of Theology – Italian Philology with elements of Christianity studies.

The position of the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Szczecin is held by Prof. US dr hab. Tomasz Szutkowski.
